buring skin

i recently started using a moisterizer for my face because it was getting dry from the winter weather.  after about a week i noticed that my face started to burn whenever anything touched it and especially when i used my moisterizer.  Is there any reason why this is happening or am i just allergic to something in the moisterizer?

When winter hits and I get dry skin, anything with a high perfume/sent content will burn my skin...more sting...I use lotion for sensitive skin, such as Aveeno, the oatmeal one for sensitive skin.  I really like Vaseline brand with shea butter.  Also Dove for sensitive shin helps stop the dryness from starting.

It could be either you are allergic to something in the lotion or your face is a bit too raw.  I would try some cetaphil lotion.  It can be really soothing.  It was recommended by a doctor several years ago when my hand were like that, too.  I use a very light application of Hydrocortisone on my face when it gets really bad.  My allergist said this is the best choice.  I usually apply a lotion after that then it doesn't sting. Good luck.
