calf pain in both legs no blood clot

Hi, I have calf pain in both legs that comes and goes about once a month and lasts for several days.  Ongoing for the last 2-3 years.  The pain is mostly only present with flexion, though sometimes tender to the touch.  I have sciatica and spinal stenosis, but it doesn't feel like shooting sciatic pain.  No discoloration, no swelling.  Cramp in front and back of thigh intermittently.  I am 26, male, occasional drinker, but the pain started before I was any kind of regular drinker, and occasional (rarely) smoker.  I've had an ultrasound on both legs, both negative for DVT, but d-dimer was positive.  I can't afford to keep going to the ER and the pain has me concerned because I do sit at a desk a lot.  Any advice is greatly appreciated.  Thank you.

thank you for the reply.  i try to stay active, but lately i have been sitting a lot for work, pretty much all day.  and i have noticed that it tends to come on after periods of inactivity.  so perhaps just tight calf muscles.

Sitting too much whether at home or on the job for long periods of time can cause this.  Sedentary life style can also cause problems.
