cracked hip

A friend jumped off a roof about 13 years ago and we took him to the hospital via ambulance. After 4 hrs he walked out and he said he had twisted his back and was given medicine. He also recently said that the doctor said he cracked his hip.
He just fell off his room a few weeks ago(again) because he said the crack gave way and he fell.
Was the doctor who first treated him wrong to let him go with a cracked hip? Is it possible to be allowed to leave an emergency room with a cracked hip?
After 13 years, could that injury give way?

Thanks,

It depends on how bad the fracture is. If it's a small fracture then he may be able to walk and it could heal on it's own. Although, it might not heal right. I'm really surprised to hear the Dr released him with only prescription and did nothing to treat the fracture. I would think with even a small fracture your friend would need some kind of brace or something. I'm wondering if he's having back problems. My husband has back problems and his legs give out on him sometimes. Has your friend been to the Dr since he had this current fall? He really needs to be checked out.

The Doctor gave him some muscle medicine and let him go. Actually this is the first I'm hearing about a cracked hip so I'm wondering if he was told it was cracked or not. Within a few weeks he was back to work and never mentioned the crack until he fell off his roof a few months ago. He says the hip gave way, but after 13 years? I guess I'm having doubts. As you might have guessed, he is putting the blame for his current fall off his own house on the "crack" from years ago, which happened on my house. I didn't think you could walk with a fractured hip.

Thanks

He could still be having problems if the fracture was'nt treated properly. Did your friend leave on his own from the hospital, or was he released? A Dr can not force you to stay for treatment. That's why I'm asking if he left on his own. It sounds like he needs to see a Dr to find out how the hip has healed, how his back is doing and if he needs any treatment.
