i know some kids are late talkers but my 4 year old was talking a ton at 14 months.  am i over conerned here?

My friend had the same issue and found out that her daughter had inner ear issues and had to have a really small procedure done to correct the issue. Once she did that and started with a speech therapy coach, her daughter ended up speaking really well.

My son on the other hand did not make sentences until he was 3 yrs and then only one or two 3 word sentences.  My daughter on the other hand was saying 'Oh dear Oh dear at 11 months.   They are both normal adults now. One started developing from the top and then down the other the other way around. Boys  tend  to crawl and walk and do things whilst girls tend to want to talk.  Well that was my experience.

You are the only one who knows the full story of how your child is developing. Speech or walking can be the last milestone..  It all depends on the child and what the child is concentrating on developing at the time.  Look up the work of Madam Montessori.

If you as the Mother is worried though and you feel something is wrong do not let the Doctor fob you off. Make sure it is investigated. All the best!

hi there. my son was almost the same age and didnt speak much either. He babbled some and said a few words but it still worried me.I talked to his doc about it and all they kept telling me was that it was normal he would grow out of it. When he was almost 3 we found out he has autism. Im not trying to scare u but maybe its something youd wanna check into. Its hard to tell in children that young but it wouldnt hurt to rule it out. Good luck to u and your baby.

Not at all. I think you should talk to his pediatrician and let him know of your concerns. That is good that he is getting early intervention early on.
