High levels of meat consumption and seafood can cause more flare-ups of gout.  Foods such as beef, pork, lamb, sardines, bacon, liver, salmon, and turkey should be eaten in smaller quantities.  (That;s why many have gout flares around Thanksgiving!  Lots of turkey and ham!)  People who have gout attacks should definitely avoid alcohol, especially beer.  

A recent study discussed the effects vitamin C may have on reducing gout attacks.  Here's a little link:
