drug interactions

Hello,
I am in my early 20s and taking Loestrin 24 Fe birth control. I got really sick, and my doctor put me on the antiobiotic Augmentin XR(Amoxicillin clavulanic potassium). I am also taking some tylenol for fever. I was wondering if all these drugs are safe to take together. Specifically, will my potassium levels be altered to a dangerous point? I've heard ambiguities about birth control and antibiotics. I just want to make sure the mix of medication will not adversley affect anything. I asked my doctor, but I want a second opinion because he was in a rush and I don't want to damage anything (I'd like to have children in the future). Thank you so much!

ok, one you should know taking antibiotics render the birth control useless while you are taking them, about the other medicines i dont no, but if the doc gave them and he knows you on which birth control then you shouldnt worry, unless you having side effect, try checking on the leaflet that comes with pills, they usually tell you which medicines you shouldnt mix with.if you are mixing, then you shold ask your doc again
good luck

The pill is still safe to take, but (as far as i'm aware with all contraceptive pills) your antibiotics will counteract with the pill and make it less effective so using condoms for the next few weeks is an idea. But apart from that you should be safe to mix them...tylenol is safe to take with most antibiotics as far as i'm aware and won't effect your pill either since it's just a ain reliever. You should read the leaflet that came with them, that tells you what other meds you can and cannot take with them or if still in doubt speak to a pharmacist.
