extreme sore throat when swallowing

I have a feeling this all started as problems from my seasonal allergies.  I have extreme pain in my throat (predominantly left side of throat) when I swallow anything - even hot tea didn't help.  I bought some Chloraseptic spray & lozenges, but still no relief.  Suggestions?

Thanks!  Yeah, I think I'm in "denial" about the strep possibility, but I know it's a real one - my son had frequent bouts with strep when he was young.  But I definitely appreciate your "nudge" back into reality.  Have a great day!

See a doctor if this is a lingering issue. A sore throat in my experience should subside in 2 days if not I would see the doc by the 4th day. It could be anywhere from allergies to strep throat.
