gained 10 pounds in one year

Is it normal for a woman to gain 10 pounds in a year?  I just went to my yearly "woman's" appointment to find out that since my last appointment last year I have gained 10 pounds. This was a total shock to me because for how many years I have been strugggling to gain weight as since my bout with food poisining years ago plus anxiety and panic attacks it was really hard for me to gain weight.  Is this normal? I have been trying to put on some weight as I felt that being 29 and 85 pounds a bit skinny.  So I have been forcing myself to eat more and lots of starches.

If anyone has any input that would be great and I would truly appreciate it. I am just worried as this seems a bit much for me. Also, another thing about me is that I am a bit of a hypochondriac when it comes to my health.

Thanks
