heartburn

I have taken omniprozole for extended period of time ..........I have tried taking it as needed, however, that doesn't work.  I have tried zantac, and others with short time relief.  I have difficulty swallowing, pain in throat, cough, headache, full feeling around jaw and ears.  I am 67 years old.

One cause of heartburn is celiac disease.  This and lethargy were the ONLY symptoms my coworker was having.  She's about 50 I guess.  Her doctor checked her labs and she was positive for celiac disease.  She had low levels of vitamin D and some other vitamins and minerals.  No heartburn medicines were helping.  Upper and lower endoscopy were done, and upper endoscopy showed the damage from the celiac disease.  She went gluten-free.  It took about 2 months, but then her heartburn went away and she started feeling better.  She dreaded taking vitamins, but she needed them.  I told her about the ones at Trader Joe's that are not only gluten free, but people say they do not cause nausea.

It sounds like you need to go to the doctor for medicine to treat Gerd. I did and it made a big difference. Hope this helps

the only time i have ever suffered with heart burn was when i was pregnant with my 2nd.  The only thing i found that worked for me was Gaviscon liquid mint flavour.  That worked for me, I hope you find something that works as I hated that feeling xx

From what you have written, I would strongly suspect that you have a hiatal hernia. These can cause a lot of the symptoms you are mentioning. I would see a gastroenterologist and ask for a scan to rule out this condition.
