Cardizem is a calcium channel blocker and is used to treat hypertension, angina pain and certain heart rhythm disorders.
Cozaar belongs to a group of drugs called angiotensin II receptor antagonists. This keeps blood vessels from narrowing, which lowers blood pressure and improves blood flow and reduces the risk of strokes. It is also used to slow long term kidney damage in Type 2 diabetics who also have high blood pressure.
Potassium Iodide is not used as a diuretic. It is usually prescribed for problems such as asthma, chronic bronchitis and emphysema and also as a treatment for some thyroid conditions and to treat sporotrichosis. It also protects the thyroid gland in a radiation emergency.
Potassium iodide can cause quite a few health problems and also irritate the gastrointestinal tract.
Although there are drinks and foods that are natural diuretics, these are not always adequate to help the kidneys get rid of the fluid retention.
Any hypersensitive and diuretic medications should only be used under the direction of the doctor.
Ginkgo Biloba is useful in lowering blood pressure. Tea is a natural diuretic. Not saying you should stop your meds - but see your doctor about it. Perhaps he can prescribe a lower dose or something that works better for you. I am on Cardizem. And I take Potassium Iodide as a diuretic. Works for me.
Corrected comment:
Cozaar is a medication used for high blood pressure.
Amiloretic is a diuretic.
Your doctor prescribed these to you for a reason and you should not stop taking either of these medications unless your doctor directs you to.
The reason why your feet ankles are now swollen is because you have stopped taking the Amiloretic.
And the reason for your headaches is because you have stopped taking the Cozaar. The headaches are likely to be because your blood pressure is now too high again.
High blood pressure can not only increase your risk of getting a stroke (like mklarson says), but also increases your risk of getting a heart attack.
Once you are put on medication for hypertension, it is usually lifelong.
Your doctor will ask you to have your blood pressure monitored from time to time as sometimes the medication need to be increased or lowered until the right level of blood pressure is reached.
Whilst on these types of medications, it is advisable to have a blood test taken once a year to check kidney and liver functions.
Best wishes.

The short answer is to immediately start taking both medications EXACTLY as prescribed by your doctor. Both of these medications are to designed to lower your blood pressure, so by stopping you are causing your blood pressure to rise (possibly to a dangerous level). Not only can this cause headaches, you can increase your risk of having a stroke. Never stop taking any of your medications without your doctors knowledge, it can be very dangerous!
u should take consultation from a cardiologist
