injury to leg

Hi this time last week I fell over. I am 30 years old and extremely obese. I landed on my right knee/shin although my shin took most of the fall. Instantly the area went numb, two days later I went to a and e to get it checked and they said that it would take weeks for the feeling to come back and bruising to go.

Initially it only jury if poked :)

Today I have been experiencing a seering pain within the shin when my leg is bent like when sitting anxieties only relieved by walking or lifting the leg straight.

Also when I touch one are area of the numbness I get a tingling sensation somewhere else.

The other thing is I had a small blue splodge on my leg already which I presumed might be the beginnings of a varicose vein or something this has now grown in size although the skin is still smooth, it looks more like a bruise, except I know it was there alreAdy.

Do you think I should go back to the gp just to check things are ok?

Generally I'm in health wise except for being fat and .pre diabetic

A couple things to remember - you say you're extremely obese - pre-diabetic.  Obesity can also result in restricted blood circulation, which in turn - results in slower healing times.

Visit the doctor - it sounds like something you're willing to do anyway.  Ask about ways you can apply therapy to your leg - ask about hot/cold treatments, an herb called arnica montana, massaging the area or surrounding areas to stimulate circulation.  I think it's safe to say that you want to keep yourself positioned as frequently as possible to avoid pain - as pain is an alarm.

The weight - start working on your diet and when your leg is better consider on going on walks.  It's time to start addressing this before additional problems accumulate - it's never to late to start!
