just found out i have HPV! what now?

So, I just found out I have HPV. My gyno informed me I have a very low grade....she didn't seem alarmed by it. So did the little procedure where u look under the microscope at the cervix. She said my cervix looked very healthy and that she didn't see any pre cancerous cells. My thing though is I clearly got HPV from my ex...is this a sort of thing where I have to inform him I have it now? Since there are no test that a guy can get to show he has HPV. I mean is it necessary he knows? My doc said in ppl in my age range the virus usually clears itself up.

Whatever you do, do NOT miss your PAP's yearly or as often as your GYN recommends.

HPV is a virus, it can leave and come back.  It can worsen, stay on top of it.

I would tell your ex, and let him know that anyone he has sex with will get it.  He can pass it through oral sex as well.  It can cause cervical cancer.

Well, I guess I just have morals and I think that your other partner has a right to know. There is no test for a male to check for HPV. Condoms are always a good thing to use no matter what. I have had HPV. I have also had part of my cervix removed because of this. I was giving you advice. Doesn't mean you have to take it, but put yourself in his shoes. Would you want to know? Because I would.  It's called courtesy. Knowledge is the best medicine. Good luck with everything and I hope everything works out for you.

Also, if you tell him now, at least he can protect his other partners if he has any right now.

I think you could get a much better answer to your questions if you posted this on the STD Forum.
I just don't know enough about HPV to give you correct information.

I would tell your ex partner just because I think that is the ethical thing to do. I would put yourself in his shoes and I would think you would want to be informed. I think being informed is the best policy, especially when it comes to this type of issue.  Good luck with everything and I hope everything works out for you.
