mono

I took my child to the er for a sore rthroat ,runny nose and a slight cough my children are four five and ten.They said my children have mono ,although my husband and I show no signs .They were given medication but little to acknowledge what the facts are why and how questions !They're tongsils are slightlty swallon.Can someone please give me a little more info on mono and besides the meds what I can do to help /ice cream?Or soup?   lost

If your children have Mono, there's not anything that can make it better except time.  You can give them something to relieve their symptoms but there is no magic pill to make Mono go away, it's a virus. You and your husband may have already been exposed to Mono earlier in your lives.  (you can't get it more than once).  Go to your doctor and ask them to test them for EBV (another name for Mono)  Your kids will need a healthy diet, plenty of water and lots & lots & lots of rest if they truly do have Mono.  There's tons of information about Mono and the EBV virus on line, just google Mono.  I'm not a Doctor, I would only trust the diagnosis from my personal physician.
