"number twos"

I am a 50 year old male, a well-controlled type 1 diabetic (on Novolog and Lantus) for 38 years, and on a generic form of Synthroid (.150 micro), and also on BP med - but what I am mentioning below starting happening way before I was on that BP med.
For many years now I have had very hard stools. I pass them at least once a day, but they are so hard they cause pain, they are also very large to the point that they clog the toilet. They always sink, instead of floating.
Is fixing this concern simply a matter of eating more fiber?
Could it be related to my Thyroid med?
Can it be related to artificial sweetners?

Insufficient thyroid supplementation can cause constipation if you have hypothyroidism. If your problems aren't cleared up with some stool softeners/laxatives it would be smart to see your doctor to find out if your thyroid medication or anything else needs to be changed.

Thanks for all the replies.
The type of BP med that I am on is the generic form of Cozaar (either 40 or 50 mg?.
So it is pretty much what I thought it was - I need to take some to soften up a bit.

Try Konsyl  The natural psyllium fiber supplement with more psyllium per dose You can buy it at any drug store.
You don't have enough fiber and your stool should float

Try taking a stool softener and see if that helps the problem.  What is the BP med?
