Hydronephrosis is caused by fluid-intake, not the intake of solids. And I wouldn't necessarily say to avoid fluids either (you'll be at risk for dehydration if you cut fluids).

What's causing the hydro? Blockage of some kind, I'd imagine, but do you know exactly what's causing it? Possibly something IN the renal cortex? Or possibly ureteral?

There are medications to help with the "flow" of fluids through the urinary system. FLOWMAX is just one of many that I've tried, and have had good luck with it.

I'm not a doctor, so you should probably ask yours if it's an option for you. It'll help with the hydro, for sure.
