preauricular lump

Dear DR,
I am a 27 year old female. Last evening, i discovered a lump in the right preauricular area. The lump must be aprox. 1 cm in diameter, moveble, not tender and hard. Also under the jaw i have a tender small lymph node that started to hurt today. I also experience cold-like sypthoms (runny nose, sore throat); the temperature is between 36.4 C morning - 37.2 C afternoon/evening. I must mention that i have had a history of recurent synusitis and also a right ear infection 3 months ago. Last weekend i went to the sea side and it was very cold and very windy and i felt pain my right ear. Now i don't have pain in my ear but i feel a small pressure and hot around my right ear.
Could you please tell me if the lump is an enlarged preauricular lymph node or could it be a salivary glands infection, or something else. I am very anxious about this problem and i would apreciate any advice coming from you.
Best regards

Hi there. Noticed my 8yo son has a small mobile lump adjacent right ear, could be pre auricular node location. About the size of a pea. Took to GP as been there for few weeks now and not away. Any help as to what this could be would be appreciated. GP was unsure so referred for scan but could take weeks for appointment,  meanwhile I'm fraught with worry.
Thanks in advance.

Well, masks would be prudent, but in the case of a real pandemic flu patient, confining the person is a better idea.  You'd see me with my mask on for sure!

However, this COULD spread to the rest of the world, Dr. Choi.  She could be the initial case.
