I had laparoscopic surgery last Jan 17 due to ovarian cyst. I usually have a monthly period every 1st day of the month. Now my belly hurts so bad it felts like after I had my surgery 8-9 in a scale of 1-10. My period just start yesterday but I dont know if I can call this a period cause its very light seems like it a stain only. I usually have heavy period. This raise some concern to me. Is this normal?

Depends on lots of things, eg. your age, are you in pain, and first: have you asked the surgeon for an opinion? Everyone reacts differently to things, and there is no "normal" that fits every one or every situation. Give that doctor a call.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
A detailed medical examination may be necessary for appropriate diagnosis and treatment of your condition. This pain can be a part of healing process. Since the pain is severe it is suggested to contact your operating doctor for more queries and assistance. Sometimes surgery can cause damage to other organs in your abdomen such as your bowel, bladder, major blood vessels, womb, one or both of your ovaries or fallopian tubes. The symptoms of severe lower abdominal pain or swelling along with an unpleasant smelling discharge, pain or swelling around your belly button can be an indication that you may have developed an infection and will need treatment. It is suggested to get examined by your gynecologist and get evaluated. I hope it helps.
Take care and regards!
