right side- l5 bulging disc

i have a bulging disc- L5, PT did not help- dr. wants to do surgury put in 2 screws. A bit nervous on the outcome. Any feedback on this type of surgury?

I hope you have a second physician opinion, orthopedic if already seeing a neurosurgeon. Personally I have witnessed too many ok surgeries and then continued need for more. This recommendation I believe in is not for evey back problem. But investigate Pumsters.com. The experiences folks will relate about back pain management and surgeries is amazing. Perhaps someone on this site will offer their experience soon. Sorry you are having back concerns and best of luck in getting your answer that you need.

Well, now of days the surgery is very succesful depending your age and health. Have your tried the steroid shots that help out alot!! you can do the epidurals three times a year. Before making any decision which sounds like surgery make sure you get second opinion...its a relatively small incision and quick recovery, but please try an epidural and second opinion.
