sleep center testing

sleep center testing

Hello,
I am new to this... I was wondering if anyone could describe the experience of doing a sleep center study for sleep apnea? I am a tad nervous.

Also I have Anthem insurance with a $3000 deductible.  I know they will often discount the test/study drastically then say what I am responsible... does anyone have any insight to that either?

I also have to do an echocardiogram and get fitted with a 24 monitor next tuesday.

I have never been to a sleep center, but, I have seen patients that are taking part in the study, it does not seem to bad. I think they wear little leads on their head and this records what goes on when sleeping.

I have had an echo and the 24 hour monitor. They are both very easy tests and won't hurt a bit. The echo will tell you if you have any structural damage to your heart, how it is pumping, etc. The 24 monitor will pick up any irregular beats such as PVC's and PAC's. I have those, but, they are benign, however, they do scare me. Both of these tests are great to have, especially if you have been having heart rhythm issues, they will set your mind at ease.

I am a member of the heart rhythm forum here, there are lots of helpful folks that are more than willing to answer questions.
