sprain or fracture

sprain or fracture

I took a nasty fall on the stairs this morning... I had pain right away in my left wrist and a bruise 1/2 down my forearm. I get pain when I flex my wrist upwards or when I put to much pressure on my hand. Could it be a sprain or fracture? Rather treat myself then go spend $$ if I dont have too.

Thank you!

I don't know your bone build, age, or health condition, but if you don't want to go to the doctor:

Go to the pharmacy and buy a wrist splint and wear it for a week.  If you can move the hand, try to exercise it by doing slow up and down movements and circles.

This will help you if you have a tiny fracture or if you just injured some soft tissues.

Wear it longer than a week you think you need it--if you think it is fractured.  Remember to do slow and frequent exercises.

I went jogging four months after my first child was born.  I jogged up until her birth so it was no big deal.  However, I broke my lateral metatarsals in my left foot--and it was so horribly painful.  The campus doctor wanted an xray, but I could not afford it.  I walked on it anyway--I cringe thinking of it.  I can't wear high heels at all now.

If it is broken--you might need to see a doctor as it could be corrected better, but if you want to save money--you may have to accept that it might not heal as well.

I've been in the same dilemma.
