sudden episode of shaking of head/hands

My 44 year old male cousin was sitting in a meeting and suddenly experienced uncontrollable shaking in his hands and head; his face also became flushed and palms sweaty. I was not there but he said it was noticeable to everyone, and lasted for what seemed like forever, but he estimated about 20 minutes. He had no changes in diet, activity, is on no medications, etc. Any ideas what could cause this? Should he see a doctor or have gone to the ER?

Tell him to carry healthy snacks in the event he starts to experience a similar problem.  Also not to leave it too long before eating.

Best wishes.

Thanks - he refuses to see a Dr. It definitely wasn't anxiety, but he does have Celiac disease and I wonder if he's developing hypoglycemia. Maybe if he has another episode he'll go.

Yes, he should see his doctor to get checked out.

It may have been an anxiety attack or other medical condition like low sugar levels.  The doctor will be able to order blood tests and any other test he feel is appropriate.

Best wishes.
