sutras causing pain? in that normal?

Hello, i Am 4 weeks post op from having major stomach and kidney surgery. The surgery went fine the problem is the sutras used to stich up  my organs are pultruding out of my skin. one was actually sticking out of my skin which was cut down, and the others feel as if they are trying to get out. These sutras are causing me a lot of pain just in normal day to day activities, so much so that at times i have to walk slumped over to stop the pain. Is this normal? should the body have taken care of them by now? Is there anything that can be done?
