temple and face pain

Not sure where i should post this question several times i have experience a pain that travels up my left side of face to my temple stop and hurts just a few secs. but is a very intense pain then after wards my cheek and under my left eye feels numb,It even woke me from a sleep also.was very scary feeling...hope someone can ease my nervouseness on this Im not one to hardley ever sees a doctor ...except for the yearly checkup.by the way im 48 years old..thanks so much

my mother had the same symptoms and it turned out to be a severe sinus infection.It woke her up at night and she was so worried she began to have panic attacks.. the symptoms sound exact.. if you can i would go to the dr and suggest this as a possibility...   She had surgery that straightened everything out.. have you ever had sinus problems.. or maybe swelling around your nose and eyes?? not sure but hopefully this helps??

i had simular symptoms especially when on a plane. doc said nerve damage from sinus infection. i was scared as well. thought i had bells palsey. almost like numb from a shot at dentist is wearing off. antibiotic took care of it.
