weird headache

I've been having this weird pain for the past couple days. it's like a sharp stabbing pain in my temple and ear area on the left side of my head. The pain is only on the left side of my head. i had it once before, last month before i was put on hydrochlorot for my blood pressure. I was recently taken off it because of a side effect, causing pain in my legs. I wasn't put on any other blood pressure medication. now I'm having the pain again. the area is tender and when i press on the area gently, i can feel my pulse on it, but if i press in the same area on the right side of my head, i can feel the pulse, but it's fainter.

i went to the ER last night for it, and the doctor did some blood work and a CT scan of my head. he said everything came back "perfect". He had me on an IV and gave me something for the nausea i felt at the time. Within a few minutes, the pain in my head was diminished significantly. My blood pressure was 134/74 (or something like that). he believed i was dehydrated because i was also lightheaded at the time, hense the IV. He also checked my eyes with that little flashlight and checked my ears, he didn't say anything about them, so i figure nothing was wrong there.

I'm not sensitive to light or sound. When I woke up this morning, I was feeling good, no pain or anything. but after about an hour or so, i started to get the pain again. The pain is not throbbing, but constant with some sharp pains happening randomly that are about a 6 or 7 on the pain scale, but the constant ache is about 4-5. The left side of my left eye feels... heavy? maybe even droopy. The left side of my neck also feels stiff, and if i turn my head to the left or tilt it to the left, the pain in my temple and ear area worsens for a second then goes away. if i press the area with my fingers, it feels tender, but the pain goes away slightly. I'm not lightheaded now, nor nauseous. The pain is bothersome enough that i don't feel i could walk for a long distance, however short distances don't seem to make the pain worse. I just sneezed and the pain didn't get worse, it actually seemed to diminish slightly. Coughing also doesn't worsen the pain. However I have yawned and the pain worsened slightly. I've also had jaw clicking upon open my mouth a bit wide, it's not a painful click, but somewhat aches after i close my mouth.

looking up my symptoms i came across Temporal Arteritis. I'm not sure if i have that. Would the CT scan pick it up if i did?

I'm 19, obese (305lbs), female, and live a sedentary life style if it matters, and currently on a calorie restriction to lose weight, which has been successful so far (about a month), lost about 7 pounds.

I wonder if this could be caused by high blood pressure?

I really don't know what's causing the pain, and would like any idea of what it is. Has anyone had similar pain?

I DOUBT this is Temporal Arteritis; you don't fit the profile.

I was thinking possible Intracranial Hypertension, you are at high risk for this because of your weight,  but.......not sure.

As gymdandee suggested, consult a Neurologist to help you sort this out.

I would also recommend an MRI and an MRA (views vessels) or an MRI and a CTA (views vessels).

Hello~I would say you are a perfect candidate for a chiropractor. Since all other tests proved there was nothing wrong, I would sure see one. All your symptoms point to pinched nerves in your neck region, he./she will take some x-rays, then give you a simple adjustment, some folks start feeling better after the first one. I see one and they have helped me immensely. Try it, you have nothing to loose but your pain and anxiety.
