what is going on ?

I have been thru a multitude of tests recently that began when I was taken to the ER for a severe headache - which 30days later I still have.  The ER did a CT scan which suggested parathyroid disease.  Doctor ran a series of test checking metabolic, cbc, and pth levels - all normal.  Then did and MRI which also shows parathyroid disease - (calcification present)  Now I am being sent to a Neurologist and it has me nervous because my family history includes a father who had cancer, a mother that dies from ALS, a grandfather that had Parkinsons, and bunches of diabetics.

What else can cause this ?

well you are getting somewhere I am also Allergic to a lot I have skin problems though I get Dermagraphism and Chronic and Pressure Urticaria,' Hives 'to us simple folk,I have had no help and am going the Natural remedy route Anti histimines make me sick, I have been the Pridnisone route and wont go there again, I am trying a Histimine Free diet at presant, all this came on Mid May after Denatl work that went wrong.I did get chronic head aches when I was getting the Root canals done the Dentist was very disinterested and put me on Penicillin which ,on research could have caused the Hives!!I think originally it was the Numbing agent they used, one big Muddle as you can tell. I also worked out that as I had been on a lot of Advil for the pain I was having headaches from the withdrawal from them I looked it up there is a migraine and Headache site which was very helpful.I put it in the search Engine.

Well - I had hoped that going to the neurologist would set me at ease and it did in some ways and made it worse in others.  My doctor had me read the MRI because he thought I should know everything on it - and it wasn't pretty.  I have heavy bilateral calcification of the basal ganglia and several other areas that are of concern - there were a bunch of very big words I couldn't pronounce let alone understand.  After that he told me we were going to take one thing at a time - first focus was to get rid of the constant headache and then meet again in a month to begin looking into what could be there.  I will also be having a follow up MRI in 4-6 months to watch the pregression as well.

My problem is the not knowing what the heck is goin on - but if he can get my headaches to go away - we can deal with the rocks in my head later.

Thank you.  The reason they found the calcification was because my Asthma doctor sent me to the ER because she was afraid I was having some type of Allergic reaction to Xolair.  I have severe persistent asthma mostly triggered by allergies which are also classified as severe.  Basically I am allergic to the inside and outside world - my next home will be a flippin bubble.  Xolair had changed my life - I was able to go to baseball games for my son - and not wheeze - but they have taken me off that until they can figure out what is causing the headaches and such, but I still take Advair, claritin, nascort, singular, albuterol, prednisone - as needed, and they all have fabulous side effects.

I am looking forward to going to the neurologist if only for some answers - I think not knowing what is going on is horrible.  (guess my kids are right - mommy's a control freak !  ha ha ) Well - I should know something by Monday .

Once you see the neorologist you will feel better ,Headaches of course can be caused by a number of things like Diet, too much sugar or sweetners, also a lot of pain Meds, as they can cause a kind of withdrawal when you stop them if you are taking anything check out that isnt causing the headache, and as for the other tests the answer ,is only wait to see ,there are a lot of things out there now to help with anything they find.
