what temperature to believe...HELP?

So, I felt slightly hot about 30mins ago. Me being a hypochondriac I ran to take my temp and it was 99 then a few mins later 99.7 and then 99.5...that was taken orally. I decided to take my temp underneath my arm and it read 97.7 both times. I'm really scared...which temperatures to believe? R any of those numberrs in the 99 considered fevers...help!

the underarm portion is hotter than the mouth.....every time we talk and the moisture in the mouth keeps the temp. of mouth lower than underarms.......tht is the approx. data u have got from the thermometer.......

The most convenient part of the body to take a temperature reading is the mouth. But consumption of hot or cold drinks, improper thermometer placement and even breathing changes can give a false reading.
Temperatures measured under the armpit (axilla) are even less accurate. The core body temperature is best measured in the rectum. Rectal temperature is usually about 1 degree higher than oral temperatures. Axillary temperature is about 1 degree lower than oral temperature.

So, believe the oral readings? R those readings considered a fever...I just took it again and it said 98.1...like why the variation. I'm so confused ;-\

Hello Candy~Calm down, these numbers are normal, many folks run a little higher than so-called normal and they are perfectly well. I will tell you this, the more stressed you get, the more "fever" you will get, it is just the body's defense mechanism. Do not worry.
