Epigenetics refers to changes in gene function that occur without a change in the sequence of the DNA. Epigenome refers to the overall epigenetic state of a cell. At present, we lack knowledge about the impact of diet and lifestyle (including drugs) on the human epigenome and the formation of multifactorial diseases (such as neurological disease).
