My Father just died of ALS and I fear I may have it

Hello,I am 42 female who just lost her father to ALS at 68 yrs old. I just noticed some small twitching in my left hand. I am freaking out over this for 2 reasons. 1) My dad just passed away in March 2009 of it 2) I have a beautiful 4yr old boy who needs me. I would not think this if he just didn't pass but, I gotta tell ya, I can't sleep and I am going to get a blood test. I know that won't tell me everything. What should I do, should I be worried. I have no weakness or cramping, just twitches.

We are sorry for the loss of your dad. It must be extremely frightening to have just lost your father and now be concerned for your son's wellbeing. We recommend that you meet with your doctor to discuss your symptoms, appropriate testing, specialist referrals and/or disease monitoring options.
