RE: Autistic Sibling

RE: Autistic Sibling

Thank you for answering my former question. I failed to mention that my son's Autism was regressive. He was normal to advanced until he was 20 months old, and was quite verbal. Without a month's time, he simply stopped talking and making eye contact. He soon became non-verbal and remains so today. Is this type of autism considered any more or less to be from genetic causes?

About 10% of autism in general has a genetic cause.

A medical geneticist will review pregnancy history, family history, medical history and perform a physical exam to help establish cause (if possible).
