balanced chromosome translocation

balanced chromosome translocation

my husband has a bdt of the 5th and 9th.  I've had numerous miscarriages and we are considering sperm donation. A thought popped in my head today about trying clomid.  Will my doctor prescribe clomid knowing the translocation?  My thought is that if I take Clomid my chances are better at releasing more than one egg and if that happens maybe my chances are better that one would be normal? Thanks for any input you might have before I ask my own MD

Experiencing recurrent miscarriages is difficult both physically and emotionally.  A balanced translocation can certainly cause miscarriage and also can increase the chance to have a child with extra or missing genetic material.  You may benefit from meeting with a genetic counselor to discuss the exact size of your husband’s balanced translocation, and the risks for subsequent pregnancies.   I am sorry that I cannot answer questions about the effects of Clomid in this forum.  You can find a genetic counselor through the National Society of Genetic Counselors.
