factor v blood disorder

My granddaugther has factor v (and other factor) blood disorder.  She has had a blood clot in her leg and was on birth control pills.  My daugther (her mother) also has factor v only.  My wife was tested and does not have factor v.  I am wondering if I should be tested and what is the inheritance line for this desease?

Factor V Leiden is inherited in an autosomal dominant pattern, which means that having a mutation in a single gene copy is sufficient to increase the risk of developing a clot in a blood vessel. This mutation is typically inherited from a parent who may or may not have the symptoms of a clotting disorder.

We recommend that you meet with a clinical geneticist who can perform a physical exam as well as discuss the benefits and limitations of Factor V Leiden mutation testing. A medical geneticist can be found at the American College of Medical Genetics website. Best wishes to you and your family.
