both my mom and my dads side of the family are riddled with cancer every thing from lung cancer to stomach cancer......are me and my kids at risk for cancer  2?

Yes there is some part of genetics associated with cancer, but that doesn't mean someone is powerless. Even with something as well known as the breast cancer gene -if you have it you still have a chance of never getting breast cancer. And you don't have to have the gene to get breast cancer you can still get it. Your environment matters greatly. Know the symptoms and risks for what cancers run in your family and lower your own- Don't smoke, eat plenty of high fiber, fruits and veggies, exercise. Etc. Maintain a healthy life style and never ignore symptoms that seem suspicious. Your healthy habits will pass on to your kids and hopefully help prevent them from getting any thing.

We are not bound by our genetics. Family history matters because it shows us what we may be more at risk for, but the ultimate choice is the way you choose to handle what you're given. That really determines your health.
