I have a balanced translocation.  Do you know if your child is "balanced" as I am assuming you are.  Usually, an unbalanced translocation will miscarry.  I have lost three and am pregant again.  My fourth pregnancy, which resulted in my daughter, was textbook.  No problems, no issues and my daughter is perfectly healthy.  Although I don't know if she carries the same translocation as me, I can only assume that it is balanced or non-existent because she has no genetic or medical issues.  I assume you had an amnio.  Did they tell you the specifics?  They can tell if your baby is balanced or not.  As far as birth defects caused by this, there are a wide variety and the odds are specific to each individual woman.
