Do I have my mother's blood?

I was told that the child only has the father's blood because the blood is carried to the child from the father's sperm.  That the child has both parent's genes.

You were told incorrectly.  Blood types and blood production genes are inherited from BOTH parents. Technically, the blood is the child's own unique blood, a product of the combination of the two parents' genes.  There is no blood carried in the sperm.
