Markers for DS

I am 26 years and pregnant with my 3rd child. I had no complications during my other pregnancies. When I went to the doctor for my screening ultrasound (18 weeks) and they found 2 choroid plexus cysts on each side of my sons brain. They suggested I go to a maternal fetal medicine doctor just to get it checked out. Told me that usually everything is fine and that its just a precaution because everything else looked fine. When I had my ultrasound at the specialist 2 days later they only located 1 CPC. (this one was small). After it was done the doctor informed me they found a couple things to be concerned about. #1. Absence of Nasal Bone. I don't understand why this would not have been noticed on earlier ultrasounds. I've had quiet a few. #2. Thickening of the nuchal fold. At 18 weeks my babies measurement was 6.5. The doctor told me that the cut off was 6. My chances were given to me based on these markers and my age to be 1:53. I'm still trying to decide if I am going to have the amnio or not. It won't change my mind on keeping my pregnancy but it will help me prepare for what could possibly be. Is it possible that they could have just missed the nasal bone? or that the thickening will thin out as the baby grows? I have so many questions and do not know where to turn. Thanks for your help.

Hi, I did have a ds pregnancy, my 3rd, and we lost the baby at 19 weeks.  Many of your markers sound like downs syndrome, but the only way to confirm is through amnio, which holds risk in itself.  If it will not change your mind about the pregnancy, conisder not having an amnio to confirm...ultimately it is your choice, and I hope that you find some peace in whatever decision that you make.
