Ovarian MMT and BRCA2

My mother passed away in July 2009 from ovarian MMT. My mother's sister had genetic testing for BRCA1/BRCA2 which showed a mutation of uncertain signifigance (BRCA2).  I am curious as to what is known about this disease in regards to genetics.

This discussion is related to brac2.

Find a local geneticist to work with you on this.  They are most knowledgeable when it comes to knowing what you can expect.  You need to be tested right away to see if you have the mutation also. A geneticist will do your pedigree, and be able to answer all your questions regarding this.

I spoke with the same geneticist that my aunt dealt with.  Much to my surprise, she did not seem interested in helping me....she did not feel that this warranted pursuing genetic testing for myself. My doctor specifically requested that i have this done.  So, I'm not sure where this leaves me at this point.  Hopefully, my Dr. will have some advice as to where i go from here.  I had been having some problems, (uterine polyps and endometreosis) and just had a total hysterectomy (had one ovary removed years ago, along with section of the cervix and the CA 125 i just had was elevated (could have been the endo) so that was part of the reason he wanted me to have the testing done...to see if giving me estrogen was "safe"....frustrating!!
