Polycythemia Vera

Hi, my dad was diagnosed with Polycythemia Vera about four months before he passed due to complications of the disease.  I am writing a nonfiction story about his battle with the disease and the disease itself.  I was wondering if anyone who is currently diagnosed with PV would like to help me spread the word about this horrible disease by telling me their story so that I can integrate it into my writing?  I know that this may sound strange or too forward, but from seeing what my dad went through, I feel responsible for informing people about the disease.  Please!

Hi Faerydust,

I'm very sorry to hear about your Dad.

I've had PV for about 10 yrs now.  I am currently 39 1/2 yrs old.  I regularly go to a hemotologist anywhere between 4 weeks to 8 weeks depending on my blood levels.

What complications did your Dad have and did he go to the doctor regularly prior to his diagnosis.  I was diagnosed fairly early and my disorder has been in check since.

I look forward to hearing from you and let me know if you have any questions.

Maddy
