Significance of a single x-chromosones in >80% of cells

I had a chromosone study on my blood done recently and was told that there more than 80% of the myeloid cells have only 1 X chromosone.  Coincidentally, I also have neurological issues.  I have been diagnosed with MS, but some of the symptoms appear to be overlapping with another yet undiagnosed neurological disorder.

Is there anyone on this forum who understands and/or who can explain in simple language if having this chromosone scenario is related to anything clinically significant?  I can not wrap my brain around this test result at all.

Thanks and I hope everyone is having a wonderful Friday.

Hi Julie,

I just recently found a site that has a great genetics explanation of multiple genetic issues.  I scanned through it on various occasions, and I am not sure if your situation exists in it, but I found the site so helpful.  Perhaps if you are able to dig deeper in this site, you may find out some of the answers you are looking for.

If not, I hope that other members that might have a similar issue are able to help you figure out if there is a relation to your MS or yet another undiagnosed disorder.
I am sorry I couldn't provide you with more information, but I hope that this helps somewhat.  If not, keep posting and looking here for other posts with similar situations.
I wondered if your results could be better explained to you by a genetic specialist... do you have one or can you get a referral to speak to one?
Please keep in mind, that while I have extensive knowledge in many areas, members should always seek professional medical advice from their own physician, as it pertains to medical conditions or concerns.
Good luck, and if you have any other questions that I can help you with, please feel free to message me directly.

Sincerely,

to add, if it's only in about %80 of cells you have a Mosaic form of some disorder which means sometimes a bit less symptoms.

Thanks for the addition.  I do recall the doctor saying something about mosaic pattern.  We are still trying to find the culprit thought.  Have a few things in mind, but still looking.  Thanks again for our comment.
