Spherocytosis low heptaglobin

Spherocytosis low heptaglobin

I have been diagnosed with hereditory spherocytosis and spleenomegaly.  I have a lot of sypmtoms, including severe pain in the spleen area, severe fatigue, bloating, cramping when I eat, frequent urination.  I have been told I am not sick enough yet to have the spleen removed.  (Which I know is the only treatment, my daughter, mother and multiple family members have all had their spleens removed.)  My most recent blood test showed normal, but on the lower side of my hemoglobin count, but showed a severly low heptaglobin count of only 2!  My research shows the this indicates severe hemolytic anemia.  Can someone please tell me if the count being this low is dangerous or what I need to watch for.  I do not want my liver damaged because they don't want to take my spleen out to early.  I had my gall bladder removed several years ago, even though I was showing signs of speherocytosis at the time, I could not get anyone to listen to me and have it checked.  I know my bilirubin count is also high.  If anyone has any information to help me, I would appreciate it.

I know doctors don't want to remove an organ if its not absolutely necessary.  I also have family members that have delt with medical problems that I am just starting to see.  Eventhough, i'm predisposed to getting Diabetes because of genes, I still have not gotten it.  That doesn't mean I won't.  It seems like they won't do anything until it breaks completely.  you know somethings not right, way before the test show it. It makes since to spare you the pain once the test show that you're going down the same road as your relatives.  Some Dr.'s are good at making these decisions based on Quality of life issues.  In their mind, you don't take it out until its broken.  In my mind, once its broken it is too late.  Why not prevent future damage to other vulnerable organs and make life more comfortable.  I guess there is a financial motivation to strech it out as long as possible. (Not that all Dr.'s do this, but it is possible) (It's kind of like job security)  I really do believe that most Dr.'s really want to help and make things better.  There are complications when removing organs and things don't always work out the way they are supposed to.
