Hi,
How are you? Balanced translocation occurs when pieces of chromosomes are rearranged but no genetic material is gained or lost in the cell. A parent who is a carrier of a translocation may not have any problem with their growth, development and health. However, depending on the chromosomes involved, they may experience reproductive problems. (http://www.genetics.edu.au/pdf/factsheets/fs07.pdf)
It is best that you discuss this with your attending physician. Both your medical history and physical examination are important considerations. Stay positive and take care always.
