hereditary or genes

I was wandering if it is hereditary to beat your wife because your dad did it? Can you control it or is it something that you cannot control that got passed down to you?

It's a negative learned behavior; not a genetic trait.
It can and should be controlled... counseling/ anger management would be a good start .

Men who beat their wife have usually been raised by an abusive father towards their mother.  It is something that can be corrected, and should be.  For some reason it makes a man feel powerful to hit a woman, when it is only his own insecurities he is trying to build up.  But no woman should tolerate this for one second, or make excuses.  Physically abusive men usually will make it out to be the woman's fault, as he accepts no blame himself, or responsibility.
