periventricular heterotopia

what are the symptoms of periventicular heterotopia?
Avatar_dr_f_tn
Hi,
How are you? Periventricular heterotopia is a rare condition in which nerve cells do not migrate properly during the early development of the fetal brain and form clumps around the ventricles. This may present with seizures and sometimes with difficulty with reading and spelling. Less commonly, individuals with periventricular heterotopia may have more severe brain malformations, small head size, developmental delays, recurrent infections, blood vessel abnormalities, or other problems.  Imaging studies such as MRI may also help with the diagnosis.  This link may help:http://ghr.nlm.nih.gov/condition/periventricular-heterotopia
Take care and regards.
