Hi,
How are you? Since there is a genetic or hereditary nature of thalassemia minor,  immediate family members including  children may also be affected. Careful genetic counseling is recommended for parents in whom one parent has beta-thalassemia minor and the other parent has some form of beta-globin–related disease, such as sickle cell carrier. Talk to your partner regarding her complete medical history and discuss this with your doctor also.  Take care and best regards.
