single umbilical artery & Ehlers-Danlos

When I was pregnant with my son I would hear him cracking his joints (sounded like cracking nuckles). After his birth his umbilical cord had a missing artery. He would crack his ankle joints alot as a baby. He is 18 now and has very stretchy skin; can pop every joint he has - even his neck and back and ribs; he registers over 30 on his eye pressure; and has very fair skin.
I was wondering if all these things can be Ehlers-Danlos and if the umbilical cord artery may have torn away during pregnancy because of it (weak conection or something).

I would take him to a geneticist who specializes in EDS....It certainly sounds like he could easily have EDS. I was diagnosed officially in June of this year, but have known for quite some time that I have it as I also dislocate easily, have stretchy skin, have weird stretch marks and scar very easily. I am also very near sighted, have a high palate and have TMJ.
I hope you find answers....Sunny

I totally agree with Sunny (see also my other posts of today).

I bet your son bruises at the slightest thing too!  Am I right?

It is very important that you get him diagnosed, as if there ARE some vascular issues in the family, then this might determine the type of EDS you/he are diagnosed with.  Each type is very different, but there are some crossovers of symptoms.

You absolutely need an EDS expert and not any old rheumatologist!

Best wishes
