what to expect from Geneticist

I am  a 57 year old female, I am about to see a Geneticist to discuss the possibility of Marfans Syndrome. I have read quite a bit about Marfans & I certainly have the build & family history for this.

What should I expect the Geneticist to actually do?

He/she will take down the family history and discuss your symptoms.  The best thing is that they know everything about this, and you will gain so much knowledge from them.  We have a genetic disease in our family, and it was the geneticists that gave us answers, told us what to expect, how it may affect future generations, what new treatments are out there, and any new studies that are going on.  They are very empathetic to our problems and make you feel so comfortable.  Good luck to you and take care.
