Are you having issues with heartburn while pregnant?

Heartburn can affect some women while pregnant.  Do you have trigger foods that bother you?  Do you notice certain times when you get heartburn versus other times?  What do you do or use to help?

ROTFL, I think this is the first poll I ever did where 100% said we were having heartburn!  I definitely don't have to feel alone with this.  Just got a new bottle of Tums yesterday, lol

Neisha82 you just reminded me of another topic that I will have to start this week---- our significant others and how they are affected by our pregnancies :)  It's amazing how nature works.

As for heartburn I don't know what is with me but I cannot eat fruit.  I tried having a nectarine last night and one bite took my heartburn through the roof.  So then later on I eat shrimp cocktail with cocktail sauce and it doesn't bother me.  Guess our bodies guide us to what we need, lol

Everything seems to set off heartburn for me.  But I feel bad for my husband though.  He seems to get it 100x's worse than what I get.  Most times I get heartburn, it's never really bad enough to really bother me.  With him, the world stops.  I should have known I was pregnant when he started with this type of heartburn, because it only gets this bad when I'm pregnant.  Well at least I'm almost half way through this pregnancy.

Last week my heartburn was horrendous.  I even had acid come up in my throat when I was laying down to sleep and ended up throwing up acid and fruit :(  Sorry for the imagery there.  But what I found out through food experiments is strawberries, blackberries, and even blueberries bother me terribly :(  I can normally eat those with no problems at all. But not now.  This week I laid off of the fruit, besides for watermelon and I have been doing 100% better.

I was like there is no way I am going to deal with this heartburn for the remainder months of pregnancy.  Ugh the burning in my throat was about to kill me.  This week has been a lot better for me.  I even cut down on some of the greasy stuff too which has been helping.  Plus eating smaller meals more frequently is  helping too.  I love everyone's posts!!! Keep them coming.

I had zero digestion troubles in first trimester and the third trimester has been as bad as the first was easy in terms of eating.
As cookee said, I too have a permanent fire in my throat and chest and nothing seems to relieve it. It is worst when I lie down at night and the acid reflux wakes me from my sleep. for me, fresh lemonade or ice-cream makes me feel better for a few minutes. Eggs make it worse!

With my first pregnancy, I had terrible heartburn almost the whole time.  This time around, it's only when I eat certain foods - the main one is pizza.  I haven't had to carry tums around like I did the first pregnancy, so that's nice.  Of course, there are plenty of other symptoms that I'm stuck with this time! LOL

I have had heartburn since about week 8! I have had to carry tums in my purse... At first even water gave me heartburn but now it is garlic, tomatoes and anything citrusy (is that a word...lol). I am up ALL night with severe acid reflux if I eat anything like that!! Tums are my new best friend... I have bottles all over the house and in my purse!!

Well for me, it feels like I have everlasting hot ball in my throat and chest. No matter what I eat or not eat, it is a constant problem. I chew tums like skittles, which only gives me relieft for a few minutes. I had heartburn with my sons, but not like this. My little girl is going to come here covered in hair if the myth is true. LOL :)
