39 yrs old & 3 yrs post menopausal NOW SPOTTING

I had my ovaries removed in 2007 and have gone through surgical menopause and am 39 yrs old now.  I've never had spotting or bleeding until now since my surgery.  Today when I went to the bathroom I found brown spotting covering about the size of a dollar bill.
Is this something I should call the dr about right away or wait awhile and see if it happens again?  What would cause it?
It just seems wierd that I haven't experienced any spotting all these years till today.
I am taking the same HRT ( I haven't missed any days) - low dose estradiol patch & provera) I have for years and nothing else in my health has changed...same drugs, same diet, same weight.
Thanks for your help.

Hi!
Postmenopausal bleeding almost always warrants evaluation.  I would definitely recommend notifying your doctor.  If you were my patient, I would definitely do a transvaginal ultrasound to look at the endometrium (uterine lining) and would probably do a biopsy.  The biopsy would probably be fine, and I would probably end up increasing your progesterone for a few days/weeks.  Polyps are a common finding, and cancer of the uterus is rare, but must be excluded.
Hope this helps!
