Hi!
Her heartbeat is going to be higher during pregnancy, because her heart is pumping 150% of her normal blood volume.  She may also have noticed that her kidneys are working "over time"--same reason.  It is very normal.  She should consider some mild exercise such as walking on a flat surface or swimming.  She should rest on her left side, and drink lots of fluid.  Avoid caffeine and tobacco (I'm sure she already does!)
She may want to have her thyroid level checked when she sees the doctor next.

Congratulations!
Dr B
