Am I doing enough?

Am I doing enough?

Hello,

I am 45 and have been diagnosed with ADH and ALH 4 months ago, my sister 41 diagnosed with ovarian cancer 8 months ago. Her illness prompted everyone to go get our annual exam. My OBGYN wants to remove my ovaries and my surgeon would like to place me on tamoxaphin for five years. I have not had a uterus since the age of 29.  My sister tested neg for BRAC 1 & 2. I am reluctant to remove my ovaries and take the tamoxaphin. I will be getting breast exams/ mammograms every six months and an annual breast MRI and annual ultrasounds of my ovaries.   Are these measure enough by themselves or should I consider what I am being advised to do. Thanks

Makes sense to me to have hysterectomy & oophectomy ( ovaries) to get rid of the potentally problematic parts, but I don't get the chem treatments. If you don't have any cancer now & the parts are removed why go the ordeal of chemo, it's pretty life altering for a long time as you probably know, what's the point, to treat something that isn't there? to prevent something that can't happen because the parts aren"t ther any longer" Sergery (surgery) yes, chemo, what's the point? doesnt make any sense to me.

BTW in 1974 I had all but a oiece of my right ovary removed. in 2005 I was found to have stage 3 ovaioan cancer, Feb 15 2007 I was found to have a return of cacer in my abdomen & $  cancerous tumors in my brain. My time left is short, you can take steps to prevent this in your life, please do. Good luck& let me know how it goes.
