Can you ovulate twice in a cycle?

Can you ovulate twice in a cycle?

I've been using the Fertile Focus saliva microscope and I got strong ferning during CD 7-11 with watery CM.  So we had relations three of those days.  Now on CD 15 and 16, I am having the ferning again, this time with egg white
CM.

I read about a Canadian study that showed 10% of women ovulate 2 or more times during a single cycle.  Could it be possible that I ovulated twice this cycle, about a week apart?  I'm sure anything is possible but does anyone have any better insight into this?

Hi!'
I'd be very interested in the link to that article if you have it!
That's not the way I was taught physiology, but who knows!  I could certainly understand how you could ovulate from different ovaries on different days, but I would presume those days would be pretty close together.

I also know its pretty difficult to interpret ovulation predictors sometimes too!  My best recommendation for that is to have intercourse at any point you think you could be fertile.  I also am a firm believer that Mother Nature will make both of you feel more "frisky" at the right time too, so don't forget to follow that instinct!

Check out my blog post on the menstrual cycle--you might find it interesting!

For women with a 28 day cycle, the most fertile days are typically days 11-16.  Ovulation usually occurs on day 14, and intercourse BEFORE ovulation is more "productive" than intercourse after the fact.

Hope this helps!

Thanks.  Here is the article:

http://www.newscientist.com/article/dn3927

Yesterday, however, I typed in "multiple ovulation" and came across this:  http://www.irh.org/pdf/PRESS/Women%20Ovulate1percycle%20Press%20release.pdf

I think when you read the new scientist article, you get the impression that you can ovulate twice, but that second article basically says women get waves of follicular development, but only one wave results in ovulation.

Thanks for the reply.  Lee Ann
